Nervana

Nervana Systems was an artificial intelligence (AI) startup founded in 2014, specializing in deep learning solutions. The company developed neon, an open-source deep learning framework, and Nervana Cloud, a platform for building and deploying AI models. In 2016, Intel acquired Nervana Systems for approximately $408 million to enhance its AI capabilities.

Post-acquisition, Intel introduced the Nervana Neural Network Processors (NNP), including the NNP-T for training and NNP-I for inference, aiming to compete with NVIDIA in the AI hardware space. However, in 2020, Intel discontinued the Nervana line to focus on Habana Labs, another AI chip company it acquired.
