Coriant was a telecommunications company specializing in optical networking solutions. Established in 2013 as a spin-off from Nokia Siemens Networks' Optical Networks division, it was headquartered in Munich, Germany, and Naperville, Illinois, USA. Coriant provided products and services for high-capacity, software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV) environments, catering to global network operators and service providers.
In 2018, Coriant was acquired by Infinera, a U.S.-based optical networking company, for approximately $430 million. This acquisition aimed to enhance Infinera's product portfolio and expand its customer base. Subsequently, in 2024, Infinera itself was acquired by Nokia, further integrating Coriant's technologies into Nokia's comprehensive networking solutions.
Today, Coriant's legacy continues under Nokia's umbrella, contributing to its optical networking and SDN/NFV offerings.
